4/11/10 HW Week 12

Dr. Seuss "The Zax"
This was a great little video explaining just how some teachers are in today's world. That when they come along in their journey of teaching, they want move their pride out of the way to start teaching with technology. They will not even think about using it in their classroom, but they must know they better get on board or they will be left behind.
PS 22
All I can say is wow! Those kids have amazing voices and sound so beautiful. But the song is perfect for this age or generation of teachers, how some of them are afraid of changes like technology coming into their classroom. It is just that they are nervous about doing it, because they have never done it before.
I also think that it is a great idea to do blogs, so that kids can post their assignments without using paper. And it is also easier to find things on a computer than a sheet of paper that is giving to you.
Comments 4 Kids Week 12
I went here to see the blog of my little friend Cyrus. He told me about what he did on his vacation and how he played with his friend over the break and had fun.

  1. Hi Blaine,

I too enjoyed both video's. The Zax video does describe some teacher's in today's world and hopefully that will change in the near future. The PS 22 video I was blown away by their beautiful voices. Their music teacher has done a great job with them. Good Job on your blog!

  3. I really loved these two videos! The Dr. Seuss was such a wonderful example of some teachers these days. They are so caught up in their old ways and so stubborn that they don't realize what they are doing! In the second video with all of the children singing it was awesome! I loved how you could tell simply by their body language and faces that they meant every word!

  4. Blaine,

You know, you made a really good point about not having to use paper when giving students assignments they can do online. That was very profound of you. I also like how you mentioned teachers let their pride stand in their way when technology knocks at their door. I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I think, "Well maybe he/she doesn't see any harm done by not adapting with the rapid growth of technology". I'm not sure why some people don't want to change, really. Perhaps they are afraid of the unknown. I definitely think we can help other teachers by incorporating technology into our classrooms, and share it with the ones who are stuck in the middle with the South ZAX! Good job on your blog post!
